The state is a popular destination for vibrant traditions and festivals. The Naga Population is one of the warmest and hospitable people on earth. It became the 16th state of India Union in the year 1963. It is bordered by Assam in the West, Myanmar on the East, Arunachal Pradesh and Assam in the North and finally. Nagaland has 7 administrative Districts inhabited by around 16 major tribes and these tribal people have a unique set of clothes, jewelry and beads that make them seen among the crowd of many. Dimapur

Known popularly as 'City of River People' is the biggest and most advanced industrialized city of the state. The gateway to Nagaland, Dimapur is an irresistible part of Northeast, and a must-visit travel place. Dimapur in Naga means the 'the city near a great river.' With Dhansiri River on one side, and wooden meadows flanking the other, Dimapur was the former capital of the Kachari tribe, traces of which can be seen even today. Apart from archaeologist tracing its intriguing past, the place remains thronged with business travelers due to its commercial centres. There are many starlit attractions in the Dimapur like Zoological Park, Ao Baptist Church, Diezephe Craft Village, Nagaland Science Centre, Green Park yet its main highlights remains handicrafts and handlooms.

Kohima City

Kohima is the beautiful hill station and capital of India's northeastern state of Nagaland which also shares its borders with Burma. It is one of the three Nagaland towns with Municipal council status along with Dimapur and Mokokchung. The capital is also home to tribes of Angami, Rengma, Kuki and Zeliang Naga tribes. The city has a very rich history due to various events that had happened here during the World War II. The Cathedral of Reconciliation, War Cemetery, State Museum and the beautiful hills, cliffs and landscape makes Kohima a beautiful paradise which must be visited at least once. There are plenty of herbs, flowers like white, red, yellow and pink rhododendrons, yellow Caltha Palustris and white orchids Different flowers dominate different seasons. Surprisingly about 360 varieties of orchids grow in the hillsides.

Kiphire City

It is one of the smallest towns of Nagaland, whose beauty is beyond words and comparison. You can also view the Saramati Mountain, which is the highest mountain peak of Nagaland. Kiphire is comparatively younger and was carved out of Tuensang in the year 2004. It is the ninth district of Nagaland. Kiphire is almost 239 km from Kohima, the capital of Nagaland and it also shares an International border with Myanmar in the east. Kiphire is home to several local Naga tribes like the Yimchungers, Khiamnuingan, Phom, Sangtams and Sumis.

Mokokchung City

It is located in the centre of Nagaland and is an important urban centre after Dimapur and Kohima. It is also popular due to the home of Ao Naga. The place also has many significant places of visit like the District Museum, the Town Main Park, Unman Village, and the Ao Village. Besides you could also explore some places nearby like Longkhum, Langpangkong, Mopungchukit and Chuchuyimlang. Agriculture constitutes the main occupation in the area, festivals during the sowing and harvesting months are sure to enhance the tourist's experience.If you visit Mokokchung, do check out the tourist spots and places of interest like caves of Fusen kei and Mongzu Ki, Longritzu Lenden and Tangkum Marok (springs), Ungma ( oldest and the largest Ao village) and Chuchuyimlang (festival village of Ao).

Peren City

Development always doesn’t need to have various industrialization and harmful factories affecting the growth. Nagaland is undoubtedly the most scenic state among others and inside the state is an untouched forest. The inhabitants of Peren city have preserved the forests amazingly and religiously making it one of the biggest attractions in the state. It is bounded by Assam and Dimapur district on the west, district of Kohima in the east and the state of Manipur on the south. The town of Peren is also the district headquarter and a heaven on earth for the nature lovers.


How to Reach Nagaland

By Air : Aizawl has a domestic airport and is well-connected to many cities like Guwahati, Imphal and Kolkata through regular daily flights. Flights to Dimapur and Agartala also operate from Aizawl.

By Rail : Mizoram is connected through its railhead in Dimapur connects it to the exquisite railway networks throughout India.

By Road : Mizoram is connected through National Highway 54 from Silchar, Assam. Mizoram State Transport buses ply regularly from Aizawl to Guwahati, Silchar and Shillong, Mokokchung.
