Guwahati

The capital of Assam is popular due to the majestic Brahmaputra River. It is a beautiful town which is also a commercial capital of all trading in the Northeast. The town is famous for Kamakhya Temple, Assam zoo, Botanical Gardens, State Museum etc. It is also known as the ‘Light of the East’.

Dibrugarh City

The word from its name, Dibru originates from the river Dibaru. It is a small beautiful town which is also popular for its Tea production and Oil and Gas sectors which flourish here. The city is divided from east to west by Buridihing, a tributary of Brahmaputra.

Silchar City

It was a popular market area used by British on the banks of River Barak which was filled with stones to help the dock ships. They called it Shiller Chor, meaning "a bank of stones’ which later go the name Silchar. The sunrise view, Bhuban Hill, Sri Kancha Kanti Temple, Khaspur Maniharan Tunnel are some of the main attractions here.

Majuli City

Hajo

The Hayagriva Madhava Mandir is the most famous Hindu temple of Hajo and the Poa Mecca is a pilgrimage site for Muslims.

Sibsagar City

It is the former capital of Ahom and a place of great historical significance. There are many places of tourist interest like Rang Ghar, Kareng Dhar and Talatal Ghar, Gargaon Palace, Jaysagar Tank and Temples. This city is encircled by the Dehing rainforest, where the mighty Dihing & Lohit Rivers meet.

Tezpur City

Another beautiful city is famous for the mythological battle between the Gods Shiva and Vishnu. Also known as the 'City of Blood', Tezpur is situated on the banks of river Brahmaputra. Some of the most significant locations here are the Nehru Maidan, Da-Parbatia, Bamuni Hills, Chitralekha Udyan, Mahabhairav Temple, Agnigarh, Hazara Pukhuri and Cole Park.

By Rail : Guwahati, the rail hub of Assam has direct train services to direct train services to Kolkata, New Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Bangalore, Cochin and Trivandrum.
